Fishing in Florida on the third day of our journey, we had the opportunity to fish with Captain Ryan McGee, a young and upcoming captain. He specializes in the back country and the flats. We started the morning fishing for Tarpon and the weather had completely changed. There was a front coming in, but we tried anyway. The fish were deep so I was throwing a Mackeral pattern Swim Bait by Big Hammer and got hammered. I fought the Tarpon for almost 15 minutes and got him to the boat. We grabbed the leader and I grabbed the camera and one more flip and he was gone, but that is ok, I got the fight and the fish. We headed for the back country and fished red fish, Snook and Sea Trout. I got lucky and got all 4 species that day, they call it a grand slam. We fished the day away catching a lot of fish, and finished up with some grouper, sharks and other species.
What a great trip, but I am glad to be home.
Captain Ryan is full native american, and I am sure that we will hear a lot about him in the years to come. It is a great pleasure to have him on my charter booking.
We have a special event coming on Oct. 14th, we will be doing a charity fishing tournament and raffle for "Project Healing Waters", that works with handicapped military personnel that come home from the war, what a great opportunity for me.
