After some rain yesterday, my dad and I decided to go hit the stream this evening after dinner.
We didn't have enough rain to really do anything to the streams…they were still very low, but had water in them. It didn't take us long to see trout raising on Muncy Creek at the Rocks in Picture Rocks. But stream conditions made it very hard for us to get any hits.
Both of us had probably more than 10 fish swim by our flies, and many of these fish came and checked out our flies on a majority of our drifts. But with extreme clarity, and slow moving water, our flies weren't fooling these trout.
In between endless flogging and a couple hits, we looked downstream and a little bear was crossing the stream. Since on the other side of these weeds is the little borough of Picture Rocks, and a row of houses, I'm guessing someone had a dinner guest.
After about three hours, we finally got our first fish to the bank, but by this time, it was so dark, that we were just guessing on where our fly was.
My dad, Dayl, managed to land two little brown trout in the waning light, and I managed to miss a couple more.
It was a very frustrating night on the water, but if we get some rain and the stream comes up and colors up a bit, you could have a lot of fun at the Rocks.
