Larger bicuda will attack assorted lures, leap out of the water frequently when hooked, and fight hard on light tackle. They are not endurance battlers, nor are they prone to streaking off with large amounts of line, unless caught on very light tackle. They are aggressive, however, and may repeatedly strike a lure. Most anglers who encounter bicuda do so by accident, usually while fishing for peacock bass and using fairly stout tackle, although bicuda do not inhabit the same cover-laden backwaters as peacock bass. They may be nearby, however, and sometimes are caught when anglers turn their attention from the shore and areas with cover to ply the more open reaches of water. Spoons, spinners, and an assortment of plugs—including large surface plugs that walk, pop, chug, and make a commotion—are effective on bicuda.
