A 4,500-acre reservoir built to provide cooling water for a coal-fired power plant, Thomas Hill is roughly 30 miles northwest of Moberly. It has a good population of catfish of all sizes, some largemouth bass, and a good population of white crappie. The best fishing usually occurs in the winter, especially around the hotwater outlet in Brush Creek Cove.
