New Brunswick Yellow Perch Fishing

More About New Brunswick Yellow Perch
Location: 47.070, -65.874

Yellow perch exist throughout the province and are treated as coarse fish by most anglers in New Brunswick, although some angle for them as table fare. Endemic to many waters in New Brunswick, yellow perch are found in all counties except Albert and are particularly abundant in the southwestern region. The species is documented in 82 lakes and several streams, and has been found in the Miramichi River estuary. The highest catches occur in the Saint John watershed followed by the St. Croix and Miramichi drainages.

Yellow perch reach 38 centimeters in length in the Canaan River, but in most waters they average 17 to 23 centimeters. They are caught quite shallow here in the summer. There are no creel limits or minimum length limits for the yellow perch, which does not have sportfish status. Angling for yellow perch in inland waters is restricted to those seasons that are open for sportfish.
