Naked Russian Scientist Tames Beluga Whales

Female russian scientist, Natalia Avseenko, has taken to diving into below freezing Arctic waters completely naked with in an effort to tame beluga whales.

Natalia works at the Utrish Dolphinarium located on the coast of the White Sea in far north-west Russia, reports the Daily Mail, and she began this experiment when marine experts told her that belugas do not like to be touched by artificial materials. She works in a section of the sea that has been partitioned off so that whales and dolphins cannot escape before they are tamed and sent to other places around the world.

Normally, the below freezing water would kill an average person in about five minutes, but Natalia is a yoga expert whose meditation practices allow her to hold her breath and stay under water for 10 minutes and 40 seconds.

The folks over at Shark Diver aren't impressed with the captive nature, and feel like this is a huge publicity stunt. Well, it worked. The images are definitely worth seeing.

The Daily Mail is full of weird stories today, like a fishery banning white bread as bait…
