Man Claiming to be Actor Sam Elliot Steals Boat in the Florida Keys by GoFISHn TeamCould pretending to be a famous actor get you out of stealing a boat?
A man decided that claiming to be actor Sam Elliot, know for playing Virgil Earp in the movie Tombstone, was his best shot at escaping a hefty punishment for allegedly stealing a boat and a number of traffic violations.

Ira Bershatsky, 62, of Boca Raton, Fla., hit a gas pump with the stolen boat, and tried to speed off on the wrong side of the Route 1 in the Florida Keys, according to Florida's Sun Sentinel. The police officer saw Bershatsky driving north on the southbound lanes, smoke coming from the trailer and a for sale sign on the boat.

When the cops caught up to him, Bershatsky decided to claim to be actor Sam Elliot, speeding to get to California to film a movie with Robert De Niro. Amazingly, it didn't work. – Rick Bach
