Montana Farmers are Taking Exxon to Court

This summer, ExxonMobil accidentally let slip 42,000 gallons of crude oil into Montana's Yellowstone River. Now, some Montana farmers are out for legal retribution.

In Yellowstone County, an attorney has filed a class action suit against the corporation on behalf of eight landowners for punitive damages. For their part, Exxon says they're doing their best to clean up the spill and they're sticking it out until their work is done.

The landowners are claiming the spill, which they'll have to disclose to potential buyers, will reduce the property value of their land. The landowners also claim the attempted cleanup has been thus-far inadequate, according to the Billings Gazette. We'll keep you up to date on this one.- Rick Bach
