Most of our big-fish news from Montana involves trout, but we found this fish story of a toothier nature.
Rob Stanley was flyfishing with 8-pound-test tippet when he hooked this beast of a 46-inch northern pike that tipped an official scale at 24.7 pounds.
He battled it for more than an hour on Whitefish Lake before a few fellow fishermen helped him get it aboard his boat, according to the Flathead Beacon.
Nothing's in the books yet, but it's potentially a world record for the species on that pound-test tippet. We'll let you know if and when it's written in stone. – Rick Bach
