Catfish aren’t exactly the most beautiful fish in the world, but when one is worth $20,000, that is one pretty fish!
The Tagged Catfish Contest kicks off on August 17 in Lockport, Manitoba, just north of Winnipeg. There are three tagged fish, each worth $20,000 swimming in the Red River ready to be caught by some lucky anglers. The tagged fish have not been caught in the first two years, so there are plenty of opportunities to find a tagged cat.
“The water is low and there is no danger of anybody getting hit by a log or their boat tipping over or anything like that… The water has been so clean and the catfish have been biting really good and they have been catching a lot of big master anglers so it’s going to be a good year for the contest,” said Dan Sernyk, promotions chairmen for the event.
