Guy Who Disqualified a $900,000 Marlin Catch Guilty of Fishing Without a License

Guy Who Disqualified a $900,000 Marlin Catch Guilty of Fishing Without a License by GoFISHn TeamBack in June, we reported here on GoFISHn (and just about everyone in the fishing industry did the same) about a marlin caught at a tournament in North Carolina that would have won nearly $1 million. Unfortunately, the mate on the the ironically named Citation did not have a fishing license, therefore disqualifying the catch, and the boat from winning a huge payday for a huge fish.
Well, that poor fishing mate, Peter Wann, had his day in court, and to add insult to injury, the judge found Wann guilty of fishing without a license and sentenced to pay costs of court, give a 10 day suspended sentance, and a year of unsupervised probation.

Wann's lawyer tried to argue that no one could prove that Wann was actually fishing that day…clearly this lawyer watches too many old Law&Order episodes, otherwise he might have saved his client court costs with a guilty plea. Considering Wann already admitted to making a "million-dollar mistake."

This is not the last time this marlin will be in court, however. There is a civil case pending over whether the catch should have been disqualified or not.
