Are French Islanders Using Live Puppies as Shark Bait?

Sharks will eat boots, hub caps, most varieties fish, and French Islanders are evidently thinking live puppies will work, too.

According to The Sun, a 6-month-old labrador retriever was found alive with a double hook through its nose in France controlled Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean. They believe the puppy somehow managed to free itself and swim up a channel creek.

It’s believed that people will snag stray cat and dogs and use them as bait throughout the island. The RSPCA is contacting the French government to try to crack down on the practice. We hope they succeed. –Brian McClintock
