Cormorant Dives 150 Feet Beneath the Surface

We showed you amazing images of a cormorant grabbing a cod whole and taking it down the other day.

Most of us fishermen have seen these amazing birds hit the water, but seeing them beneath its surface is something else entirely. National Geographic brought us a video of a cormorant, unknowingly wearing the equivalent of a mini GoPro, diving beneath the ocean‘s surface in Argentina.

The bird reportedly went down an astounding 150 feet. Researchers had not believe the birds were capable of diving to these depths before, but now we’ve got proof. Scientists previously believed the birds fed on or near the surface, but this “superbird” in Argentina, as it has been dubbed, is shown diving to the sea floor. Watch the video here. - Rick Bach
