The cubera snapper is a sharp-toothed fish that swims near-shore throughout the southeast coast of the United States, and now there’s a new record for the Georgia books.
According to Outdoor Hub, Chris Gray of Shellman Bluff was fishing on June 10 when he caught a 10-pound cubera snapper while bottom fishing offshore with Captain Tim Tarver on the Shellin’ Out. The snapper is the first cubera to ever be weighed and certified by the state of Georgia.
The record might not last all that long, though, as cubera snapper can weight 100-plus pounds. –Brian McClintock
