Fish Stealing Eagle Succeeds again in Washington

“He came out of the tree and scared the Holy Bejesus out of me!” That’s how Ferndale, Washington resident Bruce Huntley described the recent fish-theft he experienced. According to his story, a bald eagle left a nearby tree, swooped down less than a foot over his head and stole the fish not 10 feet from his inflatable raft. He estimates the bird had a 6-foot wingspan. The fish theft occurred on Bellingham’s Lake Padden, according to a website called McClatchy.

Apparently, this isn’t a chance encounter. Residents of Bellingham, Wash. say the bird is catching on quick and has been stealing fish from other anglers. - Rick Bach
