Kayak Fisherman Gets Attacked by Great White

Joey Nocchi and his two friends set out for a day of kayak fishing near Paso Robles, Calif., but he got a bit of a bigger bite than he planned on.

He was on the move when it felt like a baseball bat hit the bottom of his kayak, but it was no piece of sporting equipment. It was a 15-foot great white shark. The shark threw him 5 feet in the air and into the water.

“I had my life vest on and it came across me, and I didn’t want to touch it. I had my hands back but his tail came across me and I felt his skin on my hands and it was a pretty crazy, eery feeling,” Joey said, according to KSDK.com.

The shark swam off to deeper water, and now Nocchi had the problem of getting back to shore with his kayak taking on water.

Thankfully, he was not injured in the scary shark incident.  -Brian McClintock
