MacKenzie, a boat company VP, went to Dock restaurant in Waterford, Connecticut, and decided to reserve the 80-year-old, 17-pound lobster, named Lucky Larry, that was living in the Dock’s live tank. He then paid an undisclosed amount of money to release it into the Long Island Sound. Based on estimates on how much it costs for a lobster at Dock, it’s believed that MacKenzie spent at least $200.
“This lobster has seen World War I, World War II, seen the landing on the moon and the Red Sox win the World Series. He’s made it this far in life,” he said, according to ABC News, according to Grist.org. “He deserves to live.” –Brian McClintock
