Two Record Sharks Landed in Mississippi

It’s a good time to be in shark-infested waters in Mississippi.

The state’s Department of Marine Resources recently certified two shark records, but they’re not exactly the killer sharks of the Gulf of Mexico.

Austin Fox, of Vancleave, landed a 13-pound, 8.64-ounce fish on April 29, breaking the state conventional tackle record (pictured). The other record was a 10-pound, 7.18-ounce Atlantic Sharpnose shark that Breanna Gray of Austin, Texas, landed in May. –Brian McClintock
