The $50 Question winner is -- Floridian Paul Deblasis and late summer offshore fishing

This week's question was, "What's your favorite time of year to fish -- and why?"

We had 23 answers, and as usual lots of inspiring ones. Some had more to do with solitude and relaxation, or scenery, and some were all about the fishing. Paul Deblasis is 100% about the fishing. Here's his answer...

"I like the end of summer. We can fish for Snapper all night while accruing several dozens of live bait. Before the sun rises I push us to the edge of the reef, or the western wall of the Gulfstram. We use the livies(usually pilchards) to live chum for Blackfin tunas. Because we were out all night we are ALWAYS the first boat to set up on the tunas. After a couple of hours drifting north, and snagging a few blackfins, we motor out to 1000' feet and troll all the way back south to where we started. The end result is a nice mixed bag of Snapper, Tuna, and Dolphin. This is the only time of year that all three species are available, and the seas are flat flat flat. Thats my favorite game plan."

Wow, Thanks for choosing my answer! I really love to fish and pat attention to all details when plying the seas. Remeber one thing, and that is safety comes first. Several times each year I witness other boats doing things that are on the verge of insanity. Keep on fishing, take what you NEED and leave the rest for a later date. Remember they only get bigger in time!
