ICE ICE BABY!!!
Once again, the deep freeze is upon us Canadians.
Heres a collection of photos and storis from the Southern Alberta Region.
As it stands right now, the photos are from an Arctic Grayling pond as well as Badger Lake Reservoir and Sylvan Lake.
This gallery, and details, will probably be updated weekly or whenever I get out on the hard water.
This past weekend, Jan 22/23, I went back up north to the Athabasca Region for the big Walleye and some Ice Pike. Unfortunately, the lakes we went to had quite a bit of snow coverage and as a result, a huge amount of water on top of the ice, under the snow. At certain areas on the ice, the water was over a foot deep. The 3 feet of snow didnt help much either. Once we were finally able to clear a spot to the point where our augers would go thru, without having the extention on, the fishing was alright. Its just a matter of getting to the point where you can actually drill thru without having the motor of auger submerged under the water. Needless to say, fishing was good. Managed to get a number of Northern Pike through the ice however, the Walleye, Perch and Burbots eluded us. The last few pictures are the better ones from the trip. The last photo on the group is one I found on a forum and its of an Alberta Fish and Wildlife officers truck in the drink. Thankfully he, and his passanger, made it out safely but I had to show this one off. I got a kick out of it when I saw it..
