A lot has happened in Alaska the last few weeks, the Caribou migration near the lodge has come and gone, the Kings on the Nushagak hit their peak and have now moved up into their spawning habitat, the silver Sockeye blitz has come and gone as they also are turning red and staging in spawning waters. So much happens in such a short amount of time in Akaska, it is constant never ending change. The biggest story though, has been the weather. So far it has been the coldest July on record and one of the rainiest I have seen in five seasons. Lots of our rivers are blown out and muddy but the rivers coming out of lakes seem to be staying clear enough to fish and in some cases the high water has actually helped the fishing drawing more fish into the rivers. We are catching great rainbow trout, northern pike, arctic char, grayling and more, though. As I am writing this, however, the sun is shining and the temp is around 65 so hopefully our luck is changing!

About Tony's Salmon Country Guide Service
My name is Tony Gugino. I am a New York and Alaska fishing guide. I grew up on the Salmon River located in Pulaski, NY. I have been fishing the Salmon River for the last 20 years and I have been guiding on it since 1998 for steelhead, salmon, and brown trout . Initially, guiding was a part time profession for me. With time I have developed a strong passion for guiding and I have followed my dream of guiding year round. A couple years ago I had a chance to attend a guide school run by Sweetwater Travel Company out of Montana. The week long program was a great experience and has given me the opportunity to guide at the famous Royal Coachman Lodge each summer for four months. It is located on the banks of Nuyakuk river in the heart of the beautiful Wood-Tikchik State Park, Bristol Bay, Alaska. The sheer beauty of the area coupled with the variety and abundance of the fish creates a truly amazing and life changing experience. On the Salmon River I was brought up around many great fishing minds in my fathers tackle shop, Tony's Salmon Country Sports Shop, which was the inspiration of my guideing career and Tony's Salmon Country Guide Service. Years of fishing and guiding experience in the Salmon River Region of New York State and Alaska has driven my passion and become a dream come true. Now I cordially invite you to share the unforgettable fishing experiences with us. Tony's Salmon Country Guide Service (315) 430-5046.Recommended Stories
