Western
federal public lands provide our country’s largest blocks of fish and
wildlife habitat and are the backbone of hunting and fishing
opportunities for millions of Americans. But this public-lands heritage
is at risk. Our Western lands face mounting pressure from energy
development – both traditional and renewable, hard-rock mining, changing
and extreme weather patterns and new incursions into pristine
backcountry areas.
In
the spirit of seminal conservation leaders such as Theodore Roosevelt
and Aldo Leopold, sportsmen-conservationists are leading the charge to
develop real-world solutions to these development pressures. The TRCP
and our partners are working to ensure a positive future for our fish,
wildlife and outdoor heritage while our nation’s energy and mineral
needs are being satisfied.
